Tips On Working From Home

There is a strong chance you are currently working from home. Remote working has been on the increase in the UK in recent years, and many more people have looked on enviously at the people who make a living without venturing outside of their door.

However, the current circumstances are hardly ideal, and many people find themselves thrust into a strange situation. At Harpers Estates, we are pleased to say we have helped many homeowners stage and present their property with a clear purpose and goal in mind. You don’t need to selling your home to benefit from setting up with a goal in mind, and creating a designated workspace is a great way to improve your working conditions.

What work do you do?

The work environment you need depends on what sort of work you do. Many home workers need a place where they can sit and work with a laptop. Some people will even stand! However, the important thing is to create a space for work. If you live with other people, having a space where others know to leave you alone if you are there is helpful, and should boost your productivity.

Anyone at home with children or pets may find this a very difficult task. However, if you can set up a room or even a private space where you can work without being interrupted, you should find the process a lot less stressful.

Also, if you have a designated work area, it helps you to separate work from home life. When you are in the work area, you are there to work, and when you are not in the work area, you can do anything but work. It is vital to set boundaries at this time.

You may need additional equipment to do your job, and you will need to ensure you can access everything you require. If your work requires you to access an intranet or a secure system or database, you must take steps to ensure you can do the work expected from you.

Try to stick to a routine

Working from home is different from what you normally endure in the working day. For many people, avoiding the daily commute is a huge bonus. Without having to travel to and from work, you have more time, and it is inevitable that some people will use this as a reason to alter their schedule.

It makes sense to try and remain consistency with your “normal” schedule. If you can go to bed at your usual time, and get out of bed as you normally do, you will find it easier to maintain a schedule. Also, try to work similar hours if you can.

One plus point many people mention on social media is the ability to work from home in your pyjamas. While you probably don’t need to wear your standard uniform or work clothes when working from home, you should put some effort in.

Get up at your usual time, take a shower and put on some clean clothes. You can wear comfortable clothes, but you should avoid staying in your pyjamas, and you should avoid working in your bed if you can.

We know this is a challenging time, and for many households, the thought of buying or selling property is far from their mind. However, we also know many people are keen to keep themselves entertained, and some people may have property market issues. If we can be of any use to you, please contact Harpers Estates, and we will be more than happy to assist you.
