A recent study of home improvement activities provides insight into what people are doing around the home. OnBuy.com spoke to more than 4,000 people about DIY, and 55% of respondents are currently painting their walls.
With 32% of respondents saying they are landscaping their garden area; a lot of homes are going to have excellent outdoor areas. It is no surprise many people are focusing on the exterior of their home right now. If you have a garden area, you are as well enjoying this area for as long as you can.
13% of respondents said they are upcycling their furniture, and 61% of respondents said they have started a DIY project during the lockdown. When you also consider 64% of respondents say they have delayed a DIY project for at least six weeks, you can see why many people are keen to be active right now.
DIY is a smart way to be active these days. A lot of people praise DIY work as a way of keeping yourself occupied, and boosting your mental well-being. Anyone in need of a lift should consider a project that will improve their surroundings, and themselves.
If you have been meaning to carry out repair work in and around your home for some time, this is the perfect opportunity to make positive changes to your house. You don’t have to be in the process of selling your home to benefit from adding value, and this is something all homeowners should consider.
At Harpers, we believe adding value is an excellent idea for homeowners, and this is true no matter your short and long-term plans are. We are pleased to say we have assisted many homeowners in Wendover, and we look forward to assisting you as best we can.
Here are some quick tips to add value to your Wendover home during lockdown:
· Add more storage solutions around your home and declutter your house as and where you can
· Apply a fresh coat of paint to your walls and your front door
· Power hose your garden path, drive, walkways and patios
· Review all cupboard door handles in your kitchen and decide if they need to be updated
· Revitalise your exterior and interior windowsills with a neutral colour
· Revitalise your kitchen and bathroom by installing modern tiles
· Switch darker kitchen units for lighter and more neutral colours, which creates a sense of space
Cas Paton is the CEO of OnBuy, and he said: “The lockdown period seems to have given British homeowners the opportunity to enhance their properties, which might be down to the time they now have available, or the fact they’re spending a lot more time in their house and can’t stand to not do a few home improvements! Either way it’s a productive way to spend the day and can result in a significant increase in the value of a property.”
We know this is a challenging time, and for many households, the thought of buying or selling property is far from their mind. However, we also know many people are keen to keep themselves entertained, and some people may have property market issues. If we can be of any use to you, please contact Harpers Estates, and we will be more than happy to assist you.
